The Gilgamesh Star Map, however, does not work as an almanac in Mesopotamiaís climate. In fact, out of the entire region, it only works as an almanac in the unique geography and Sahelian climate of Maliís Inland Niger Delta, far to the west of Babylonia. Precession of the equinoxes makes it possible to date when an oral almanac like this one might have developed there. The Delta climate last felt its present accord with this Gilgamesh Story Almanac about 26,000 years ago.
